Picture Day

Remember picture day?  I LOVE picture day as a teacher.  The kids get so spiffed up.  The comb-overs, the gel, the curls and up-do's.  Shiny black patent leather shoes, ironed "slacks," new shirts.

The best part of picture day for me is the class picture.  I love standing next to 3 perfect rows of little people.  I love the squinted eyes, the closed eyes, the crooked smiles, the missing teeth.  The kids in the front with knock-knees and bobby socks, the ones in the back who barely peak out from the crowd.  Love it.

This year.  For picture day, I got some sad news.  Damn photography studio doesn't do class pictures like that anymore.  WHA'?  WHY?  Something to do with composite sheets, head-shots, and not missing the absent kids.  Pshaw.  Lame.

So when it was my kids picture day last week, I did the motherly thing:  bought coordinated outfits (color schema only, people), spiffed, and used my thumb to wipe the breakfast off a face or two.  I even put Tatum in a creme colored dress on Pizza day for crying out loud.

So I sent them on their way.  But first, a picture by the front door.

And then, my damn camera broke again.  What is up with that (hint, hint:  Santa).

So, the iPhone shots:

And after only a small smear of pizza sauce, and me worrying ALL DAY how their pictures would turn out, I got the news.

Picture day is now extended to include TWO days of shots:  one day outside, one inside.  WHA'?  HUH?

Whatever happened to class pictures, and goofy smiles?  It seems life leaves little room for the imperfections that make us so unique...

DUDE! Don't tell me that! I will now be pissed in anticipation of picture day being ruined. The not so perfect photos are always the best ones. Gah!

How cute are your kids in their outfits?!!! I LOVE them!

Great shots even with an IPhone. This proves that you so have talent when it comes to taking pictures.

And indoor and outdoor shots?? Really? Because they think the kids are never photographed at home? I would be annoyed! :) One day is enough to "gear up" for.

I swear I still get heart palpitations when I think of school pictures as a kid. terrible.

No class shots together...that's so tragic.

You freaky Cali folks are trend setters in every area, aren't you? We still do fun class pictures. And it all happens in one day.

No class pics--you'll need to bring someone in to take a pic (maybe not the hubby ;) )!

I love the twins there--they are so sweet :)

So cute! Do they ever resist what clothes you put them in? Just curious how you get them to wear what you want.

Who needs school pictures when Mama has a rock'n iphone?

PS - I'm with you - don't like the composite sheets near as well as the old school class pictures. Goosey had her school pictures taken last week & I can't wait to see them :)

Oh man...no more school pictures? That sucks! No more of mom's wondering what the hell happened to their spit-shined kid from the time he/she left the house until the actual picture taking time.
That's too bad. But...yeah for your I-phone...nice pictures.
Gorgeous kids...that Chase. He has "charming" written all over his little body, doesn't he?

Your kids get cuter every time I see them...is that possible?

No amount of pizza sauce could ruin her cuteness. I too think people are trying to be too perfect in everything. I like a little crazy to keep things interesting (which is probably why I'm so crazy).

Love . . .

I think I would be tearing up as Ms. Sappypants entered the building.
