4 1/2

When you're four and a half and you work on something for two months, it's a big deal.

When you're four and half the invitations read:  "Dress fan-c," you even wear a (clip-on) tie.

When you're four and a half and your class studies Vincent Van Gogh, your classroom is transformed into an art gallery.

When you're four and a half you are proud of your art work, so you love on your teachers.

When you're four and half you bring your Gran and your Uncle Henry to check out Sunflowers done in watercolor.

When you're four and a half and the collaborative masterpiece Starry, Starry Night is unveiled, your mom tears up a little bit (a lot).

When you're four and a half you want to tour each class, and check out others' work (and snacks).

When you're four and a half you show off exactly which part you helped to paint.

When you're four and a half and your mom wants to watch a "real" artist in action, you get bored.

When you're four and a half and your school appreciates that ART means letting kids' run wild with mediums and their imagination, you get pieces like this...

...and this.

When you're four and a half you might even get your own work displayed and laminated for others to try and replicate.

And, when you're four and half and you've eaten too many strawberries and watermelon, you might spend much of the GALA doing this:

When you're four and half you're never too big for your mama to hold you.

And when you are 4 1/2 and already a master in the atelier, you make the tears of pride stream down your Gran's face too!

She loves you so much that she doesn't even mind scooping you up for a big hug when you are covered in strawberry/watermelon barf!!!

You look hot, too!

And, that stinks about the unset tummy...poor little guy.

I gotta say I wasn't expecting the strawberry/watermelon shot! Poor guy. That's the worst.

At least he made it to the toilet. Almost.

Okay, gotta say, I really want to know what school your kiddos are attending??!! Not that we could possibly drive that far on a daily basis, but still. I am still dreading putting my little 4 year old going off to school and worry about the 'lack' of ART and FUN that I had when I was in school. Maybe there is hope still. ( :
Sorry about the sick baby, but I'm sure he felt better after getting the excess watermelon out. Leo had a similiar experience while we were out to eat on Friday night, but due to a flu bug, not watermelon. ) :

I am so jealous of that school and now I KNOW you made the right decision to go back to teaching because they are in such a great place (except they might serve too much fruit)! So proud of your kiddos and your mom abilities. You are amazing and look so great! Keep up the smiles!

Love Tatum's bottom on the FB pic!

Precious twins, beautiful mommy, extraordinary artwork....What a fantastic school!

P.S. I can't believe you documented the vomit. Hysterical! Hope he is feeling better!

Oh "Starry Starry Night" is my older son's favorite painting. He has it in a book and loves to just stare.

The pre-school looks wonderful--art is so important! You are lucky find a school that values it.

You all look very attractive--maybe not in the vomit pic (a new 'modern art' lol) but everywhere else just classy as all get out :)

Poor Chase. Not exactly a perfect ending to a perfect evening, is it?

What an incredible place for your kids to be!! I feel as if so many of our kids..both here and there...miss out on so much. You beautiful kids are going to have such a base for future projects!!

and yes, you looked great...and am I the only one that thinks it was probably pure luck that your dress? yeah...it totally matches the watermelon/strawberry barf. What are the odds of THAT ever happening?!?!

I do love a snuggling little boy...even if he is a bit under the weather!!
