A Look Back

[Note to reader:  There are an obnoxious amount of photos ahead...]

Burgh Baby's Mom reminded me about why I blog.  To borrow from her, she says, "I blog about my daughter for my daughter."  And that's just it.  I'm not laughing at you, I'm laughing with you, right?

I've got some Mom guilt.  It started when the Baby books weren't filled in with every detail of first poop, first fingernail clippings, and first time baby touched left elbow while wiggling right toes.  So I abandoned the formality of baby books, and opted for an old-fashioned journal which I plan to give each  kiddo at a later date.  Well, that went a little better, but right around the time I started blogging, the journals took a back seat.

So in a perfect world, this glorious format will be bestowed upon my munchkins to show them a snip of who their Mom was in a time of pure, sweet chaos.

And because I can't believe I don't have babies anymore, here are some of my favorite moments (in random order because my GAWD, does it have to take that long to upload photos?):

Oh goody. You posted again. My favorite read-of-the-day. For real. Dead serious.

Right there with you, Cheri. Patrick's biceps..... My.My.My IS RIGHT.

And look at those babies. It makes my heart ache just looking at those photos. They've grown so much, and my goodness, they are so BEAUTIFUL.

Could your kids be any cuter??

Seriously??

I just want to hug them and listen to them tell me all about their day. They are absolutely precious.....of course, you already knew that:)

Those little ones are DELISH! You are one lucky lady.

My kids love when I blog about them...Sam will ask me to read the posts about him over and over and over again. It makes him giggle. I'm all for making him giggle.

Your children are beautiful I love seeing the progression as they got older.

Oh, and your husband, on the beach? Hawt.

I love that you blog for you and the kids. That is the WHOLE reason I blog as well.

I think they will totally thank us when they are older that they have such a unique "journal" of their lives and ours when they were little.

I would have loved to read this had my mom done it! :)

Great post, and beyond super cute kiddos!!

Hi Jamie, Came over from Oh Mommy.
First, your kids are beautiful! Secondly, I am so with you on the keeping of the baby books and then not so much. It is why I blog too. I realize I cannot remember (a thing) everything they say and do and they are only young for so long! I feel my blog is like a history that can be saved and passed down. My kids will appreciate that I have written so much when they have kids of their own. Plus, I love the validation from other moms. Hey, we are not alone out here!
Come on over and check out my east coast blog if you want! What's that, we live on separate coasts and have similar opinions?! Take that Kathy Lee!

It's why I blog too--that and to keep my sanity.
Your kids are adorable!

You are blessed!

Oh those photos are precious! It's amazing to see how children grow, isn't it? Thanks for sharing. That last photo is my favorite, by the way...she is absolutely GORGEOUS!!

Oh my word!!!! Those beautiful babies! Then and now! Just gorgeous!

You made me smile, as usual. You rock, and your kids are gorgeous.

I have to ask, though. How often did people ask you if the kids were identical twins when they were younger? Because that is like my favorite question I've ever heard someone asking a mom of twins. I bet Kathie Lee would ask.

They are both beautiful and now a mattter of public record. It's the kids whose moms DIDN'T blog that are going to be pissed!

These pictures are so awesome! I am totally with you on the reason I blog. I definitely started it for my kids and my family and I try to remember that. Don't feel so bad about the baby books and journals, you could be me, with four untouched albums and 13 years of photos in boxes!

Lisa said...

How sweet are they? Almost sweet enough to make me want not one but TWO more babies. Almost......

I've said it before and I'll say it again - those are some of the cutest kids that I've ever laid eyes on. Seriously.

Those shots are so adorable! That bowband with the princess crown is the cutest thing I have seen in ages. (and we are all about the bows!)

I am going to use my blog as a baby book for my son. After all it is all written down.

Growing up goes quickly and sometimes too quickly for baby books

I blog for the same reason. My memory disappeared after childbirth.. Why does that happen?!

You have a great family. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you, thank you, than you for reminding me about why I blog.

My scrapbooks have been abandoned and my journal is sorely neglected.

I need to catch up quick, 'cause Lord knows little J won't wait for me . . .

BEAUTIFUL pictures. They are gorgeous!

*Cheri and Misty had me going back to the pic of Patrick's biceps . . . um. Wow. From lifting those cute kiddies, right???

Cutesness - beyond measure and great photos.

Those kiddos of yours are so friggin cute it kills me every time I see new pictures. I've been really bad about keeping up with our baby books, so I'm also hoping that the blogging makes up for it some.

Jennifer said...

wowzer!! :) I love pics... so this was a great post for me!! :) your babies are sooo cute!! yeah. i know they aren't babies so much any more... it happens soooo fast and with twins I think it happens at double the speed... i think. :) they are just so perfect!! i love seeing how they have grown and changed... and just as fast I looked through those pics is probably how fast it seemed to go for you... well some days at least.

I started the baby books and the journals, and haven't done too much with them, I've also started scrapbooks, well for Trevor not the girls yet... not offically a page here and there, but they don't even have pics on them... I feel like a "bad" mommy sometimes, but I do take a million pics and plan on doing something with them some day... but this is true, this is why we blog... for our kids, to remember all these magical moments with them... and also for some therapy and making friends, at least that is part of it for me. I am going to try to tell something about each of my kids every time I post... TRY being the key word. lol

thanks for sharing your wonderful pictures!! they are darling.

xoxo's Jenn

Baby books, huh? I've heard of this concept...might even have one or two...but, no...Son #1's has actual writing in it, at least for a month or two, Son #2's name is written in his...I think!!
Your kids are beautiful...and yes, the arms on that husband of yours are quite pretty, too! :-D Thanks Cheri for pointing that point out!

Personally, for me, blogging about our life here and the boys is great for our family and friends in the States. I spent so much money making pictures for people that got tossed into those boxes that we all have in our closets! I figure this way, they can read about what we are doing and if they want a picture, they can just copy it for themselves!!!
And puh-lease...Kathie Lee...pppfffllltttt! Get a life!!

I love the one of the kids in their over-alls. Yep, that's my favorite. They are going to love looking at these fun posts when they're older. What a great idea. :D

BBM is awesome. Kathy Lee is a moron.

ACK! STOP! You are killing me with all this cuteness. I may be forced to come and kidnap your kids, they are so cute. I'm sure it was hard for you handling two at the same time, but I'd say it was worth it just for the photo ops. =)
