Goodnight Moon

For as long as I can remember, I have read exactly two books each night to my children.  Never more, never less.  Some nights I'm in the mood to read many more.  Some nights I'd rather tuck myself in without another verse of The Very Hungry Caterpillar.  But I always read exactly two.  I read two books to Tatum, and two books to Chase.  This way they have consistency.  They don't beg, "Please Mommy, one more."  They also know they can count on me, I'm good for two.  (Daddy often takes this duty with one of the munchkins, too.)

So, my twins are now 3 years, 5 months, 19 days old.  Two books per night per kid means I have read 2,528 books ... and that's just at bedtime.  Whew.

So friends, tell me *your* bedtime routine.

No one wants me to read to them anymore! I suppose the fact that the youngest is 13 has something to do with that. Our bedroom routine is that we go to bed and tell them not to stay up too late!

routines are great... I don't read to Blake at night just yet, I figure that will start once he's in a real bed (hard to cuddle up in the crib)

right now his routine is have a yogurt shake while watching the news, play with daddy and do whatever. He then gets a bath every other night and goes to sleep around 7:15

I found you from Misty's blog (Starting from Scratch)

Your twins are adorable! I always wanted twins.

My kiddos are still young, but are growing up too fast. They do however still love to be read to at night. I don't always do it, but I try. We are reading chapter books right now, which I think they are really enjoying!

With 4, we would die without routine. Ready--my 6 yr old erads 20 minutes to me and her two younger brothers while my 9 yr. old reads her school lit book to daddy; then daddy reads a novel chapter (right now Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe) to the 6 yr old and boys while I read a novel chapter (right now Little Princess) to the 9 year old. Then they have (at least the older 3) have quiet reading time for 15 minutes then lights out.
Great job on keeping up with it every night!

Hi girly! Our routine with Diego involves either Eddie or I reading between three to four books a night, depending on the length of the book. Also, we read a mix of English and Spanish books so some nights it's Goodnight Moon, Los Camineros Que Hacen, The Lorax, and Tuttle, other nights it's Walter El Perro Pedorrero (great book in English too!), Animalia, and Oh, The Places You'll Go. It's usually different every night. He loves to read and it is so worthwhile to see how much he looks forward to this time of the day. (We also read during the day as well as you mentioned too.)
